About Bay Area Lacrosse Club:
At Bay Area Lacrosse Club, we strive to promote a culture of family, where each individual player is a valued member of the team. We want to ensure that every single player gets a chance to fulfill her goals to play at the next level. This club values each individual player and their needs over the pride and vanity that many lacrosse clubs can get caught up in. We strive to find that balance of healthy competition to create a positive, safe, and drama-free environment where they can learn, improve, and create strong relationships with their coaches and teammates along the way. We believe that lacrosse is not an end, but rather a means to an end - a sport through which girls can learn the life lessons of teamwork, community, and persevering through adversity while developing into well-rounded, driven young women. Ultimately, the goal is for our high school players to showcase these skills at national college recruiting tournaments where players have the opportunity to be seen by college coaches and potentially be recruited.
How do we conduct tryouts?
Tryouts for each age group will be held over a single session for a two-hour duration. At tryouts, drills and evaluations will be run and conducted by Bay Area coaches. While facilitating drills, coaches will provide players with pointers, along with techniques and skills to focus on in each drill. Throughout skill assessments, evaluators will be looking at athleticism, field sense, position skills, hustle, and coachability.
Our tryout structure allows players to demonstrate their skills through a variety of different drills and game play scenarios. Players are given an opportunity to warm up and prepare their stick skills for tryouts without being evaluated. Players will then rotate through more active, game-like stickwork drills. Finally, after participating in skill-based drills, players will have an opportunity to showcase their skills through game play drills.
Our coaches and evaluators are here to help, so don’t be shy about asking questions during tryouts!
